Two tier floral cake design with butterflies

This cake was made for a surprise party for my sister-in-law’s 60th birthday recently – the crucial element being her love of butterflies! Being ‘the other’ cake maker in the family made this even more of a challenge, Theresa having made our own wedding cake 20 years ago before I even thought of giving it a go myself!

Trotters Independent Trading Co. Robin Reliant Birthday cake

Some of us from a certain age can remember the classic BBC comedy series Only Fools and Horses with the brothers ”Del Boy”  and Rodney Trotter always running a scam.

“Trotters Independent Traders”. (T.I.T for short!) was the logo across their Robin Reliant company van, running around Peckham in South London.

This 60th birthday cake is in 3D and is in the shape of their rusty old van. The cake design is shaped from chocolate sponge with the icing decorated with a rusty and beaten up colour theme.  Some of the other designs for men’s birthday cakes are my web-page here.
